I love dogs and just like all good dog owners, I want to keep our dogs happy and healthy. Dogs are faithful, loving and such forgiving animals. They have an amazing way of showing love and compassion to their owners too. I honestly can’t even imagine life without our dogs. Frankie and Astro bring so much joy into our lives and we owe it to them to keep them as healthy and happy as possible.
Although Frankie and Astro were rescued from the shelter about 2 years apart, they have the strongest bond I’ve ever seen in dogs. They are both mixes of different breeds but they do share some similar characteristics. Our sweet Frankie is sassy and full of attitude. He doesn’t like to get dirty but he sure does love long car rides. Our little Astro is pure sweetness and snuggles. He loves the water and running the fence at the dog park. Both of our dogs are different but we still have the same goals for them; to keep them happy and healthy!
We always want to make sure our dogs are as happy and healthy as they could be, but we sometimes get stuck thinking we’re doing everything we can do. There are always new ways to spice up your dog’s life and some owners might not even be covering the basics. Here you’ll find 8 easy ways to make your dog happier and healthier!
1. Rotate Toys
Just like people, dogs can and do get bored with toys and enjoy new things. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to constantly buy new toys. Just put your dog’s toys on rotation and when they seem to get bored of what’s out now, put them away and bring out an old toy your dog forgot about. Trust us, it works!
2. Start Your Pet’s 10-day detox
Have you ever thought about the icky stuff dogs might pick up throughout the day? I know that as humans we can be pretty picky about the food we punt into our bodies but we don’t always think about our pets diets. Well, it’s time for our dogs to get rid of those toxins and Supreme Source® Pet Food is here to help!
In just 10 days your pet can be eating better. Supreme Source Pet Food is a premium grain-free diet that’s packed with healthy enzymes and prebiotics to regenerate our little best friends, inside and out. The detox focuses on digestive, emotional and physical health benefits. Supreme Source Pet Food is not only grain free (no corn, no wheat, no soy) and has no artificial flavors or colors but it’s a healthy blend of fruits and veggies, which are natural sources of potassium, fiber, vitamins, and minerals!
I’m really excited about this 10-day detox because Frankie and Astro deserve the best food possible! Supreme Source Pet Food is here to help you feed their soul and detox their system with healthy ingredients and informational tools to make it easy for you to switch your pet’s food to something more nutritious. I must admit that I was worried Frankie and Astro might not like Supreme Source because I’ve been feeding them “junk” but so far they really love it! I’m excited they are taking part in the detox and can’t wait to see improvements in their little minds, body, and souls!

3. Go on Walks
Going on walks isn’t just good for exercise; it’s good for your dog’s mind. Dogs need to get out. Imagine if you were stuck in the house all day for your entire life. Sure, you might take your dog out sometimes, but most people don’t take their dogs out enough. Daily walks are an important part of your dog’s physical and mental health. They get to experience new things, get excited and sometimes meet new people and they’ll burn some energy. Plus, it’s a peaceful way to spend some quality time with your puppy.
4. Teach New Tricks
Even if your dog is like Frank, and not the next obedience or agility champion, they certainly have plenty of room to learn new things. Teaching your dog a new trick is a great way for you to spend time together, plus you’ll be providing your dog with a lot of mental stimulation and yummy treats. And remember, old dogs can learn new tricks, so don’t be afraid to try something new with your senior!
5. Try New Treats
Just like rotating toys is a good idea, rotating treats is too! Most dogs have a few different favorites that can be used in rotation and try new treats to add to the mix is great too. Your dog will certainly love guessing which snack is coming next and you’ll get to find out their favorite flavors and textures! Supreme Source® Grain-Free Gourmet Biscuits are carefully sourced with all-natural ingredients and without any artificial colors or flavors!
6. Make Sure you’re Providing the Right Foods
The importance of your pet’s diet can’t be overstated. Everything that goes in will affect your dog – from weight to the wear on his teeth, to the health of their fur – the food that your dog eats can change everything, even their moods. That’s why we’ve switched to Supreme Source Pet Food. As I mentioned earlier, Supreme Source Pet Food is a premium grain-free diet that’s packed with healthy enzymes and prebiotics to regenerate our little best friends, inside and out. It’s not only grain free (no corn, no wheat, no soy) and has no artificial flavors or colors but it’s a healthy blend of fruits and veggies, which are natural sources of potassium, fiber, vitamins, and minerals!
7. Go to the Dog Park
There is nothing Frankie and Astro love more than going to the Dog Park. It’s so important for dogs to socialize. Keeping them isolated or at home, all day can be harmful to their emotional well-being and create fear when they finally do come in contact with other people or dogs. But always remember to take your pup’s personality into account so you know what their limits for socializing are!
8. Give Baths Regularly
Although Frankie cringes at the word “bath”, I know it keeps him happy and healthy. While your dog probably doesn’t need to be bathed every week, regular baths will keep them feeling fresh and clean. Not only will you also be more apt to pet your dog because they smell better and feel cleaner, you’ll be getting rid of any allergens that might be on your dog’s coat.
Being a great owner to your dog offers so many rewards. Making sure your dog is healthy and in great spirits is key to your dog's wellness and longevity.
