Sweet Sunday in Houston

Andrew returned from working out of town for a few weeks Saturday evening so I was dying to spend a full day with him out in the city. Our fur baby woke us up at 7 am ready to play Sunday morning… we had no choice but to wake up to start our day. Frankie will literally lick you until you are absolutely awake.

I had been dying to try Tiny's No. 5 for brunch. Tiny's No. 5 is a rustic-chic eatery offering choice American fare, including breakfast, burgers & wood-fired pizza. It’s located in Rice Village near West University Place. We arrived around 10 am and there was a line almost to the parking lot! The place was absolutely lovely. I loved the open windows and patio seating. They also had fresh flowers on each table for everyone to enjoy. I ordered the coffee cake and it was good. Andrew ordered the BLT and it was the BOMB! Ugh, just freaking amazing.

After brunch, we headed to Fannin’s Flowers. Fannin’s Flower is a 24 hours flower market. Great for people who are looking to purchase flowers in bulk.  I was able to choose the flowers I wanted for $12 bucks! It was more overwhelming than I imagined because there was so many flowers to choose from… so I just chose baby pink roses with baby’s breath!

Andrew loves finding murals in Houston. Probably because there are so many, it’s just easy to find one anywhere in the city.

We went to the Houston Mural’s Festival location to take a bunch of snapshots of some totally awesome murals. The entire building was covered. Every year Houston hosts a 7-Day mural festival! It’s free and open to the public featuring street art, graffiti and mural artists, art & celebrations. Therefore, in just a few months, these murals may be painted over and new art will be on the walls!

It was a great low-key afternoon in the city. What were you up to this weekend?!
