4 Reasons Why You Should Have Carpet in Your Home

I'll never forget when Andrew and I got our first place together. It was so exciting and yet overwhelming all at the same time. We had no idea what we really needed but we were determined to make it as stylish as possible. I mean… it was our place and we were just so excited to decorate it as we wanted to! As soon as we bought our house, we knew that we needed carpet.

Aside from adding style and comfort to our house, carpet has so many other purposes such as improving indoor air quality and even allergies! I always believed that hardwood floors and tile were better for those with seasonal allergies and with allergies to dust and pet dander, but I was so wrong! The Carpet and Rug Institute is working hard to educate people on the facts and I’m partnering with them to share with you 4 reasons why you should have carpet in your home! CRI is also giving away a giving away a $500 Visa Gift Card to one lucky reader!

REASON #1: Style

When Andrew and I bought our house, we only had tile and hardwood floors. Our house looked so plain. Carpet is perfect for making a statement! When I purchased my carpet, I chose carpet that had a lot of color so I could incorporate all of my favorite things about my rooms. We don’t have a lot of natural light in our home so I chose lighter color carpet to help lighten the room!

REASON #2: Comfort

One of my favorite things about our carpet is the comfort and warmth it brings to our home.  When you have a lot of hardwood floor and tile, your home can start to look very cold and uninviting.  With an addition of carpet, your room instantly has a softer, more inviting look! I love how soft our carpet is on our feet and it makes our rooms feel so cozy. Plus, Andrew and I are always playing with Frank, our dog, so the carpet helps keep us cushioned! Hardwood and tile can be very slippery so carpet is the best way to prevent us from tripping or even falling!

REASON #3: Healthy Living

Carpet supports healthier spaces for living, working, and learning for everyone, even those with asthma and allergies! Did you know that carpet actually improves air quality by reducing airborne allergens? Andrew suffers from seasonal allergies, so our carpets act as a filter, trapping allergens and keeping them out of the air we breathe. We have to vacuum to help remove dust, allergens, and other particulates from the carpet of course. However, I find vacuuming to be more effective than vacuuming just tile and hardwood floors! Next time you shop for carpet, look for carpet by The Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus program! It indicates a low-VOC (volatile organic compound) product for homes, schools and business!

REASON #4: Noise Reduction

When we first bought our condo, we were so worried about the noise from all the tile and hardwood floors. Frank would walk across the living room and his little paws would be so loud on the tile! Thankfully our carpet helps dampen the sound of his patter of little paws!

Whether we're watching a movie, playing with Frank, or entertaining our guests, we are always enjoying our carpet! It’s the most important thing in our rooms to us because it’s helping us live a healthier and stylish life. As we gather around the Christmas tree this year, we would be even more thankful for our cozy carpet! Make sure you go to CRI’s website to enter to win a $500 Visa Gift Card!!
