Houston Broadway: The Book of Mormon

A few weeks ago, Andrew and I went with two other couples to see our first ever Broadway show, The Book of Mormon. I can honestly say that I’m head-over-heels in love with the Broadway experience.  The theatre itself is just beautiful, the cast is so incredibly talented, and you get to dress up for a night on the town. Our friends suggested the Book of Mormon because it actually returned to Houston this year because it was so popular! The reviews, of course, were phenomenal.

“The Book of Mormon follows two young missionaries who are sent to Uganda to try to convert citizens to the Mormon religion. One missionary, Elder Price, is an enthusiastic go-getter with a strong dedication to his faith, while his partner, Elder Cunningham, is a socially awkward but well-meaning nerd whose tendency to embroider the truth soon lands him in trouble. Upon their arrival in Africa, Elders Price and Cunningham learn that in a society plagued by AIDS, poverty and violence, a successful mission may not be as easy as they expected.” (http://www.broadway.com/shows/book-mormon/story/)

We actually purchased out tickets through a resale website, StubHub, a few weeks before the show. Unfortunately, we paid WAY more than we should have but regardless, it was so worth it. After falling in love with Broadway, I went directly to the website to find the cost of a show a few months out… again, we totally overpaid when we went! If you purchase your tickets in advance, you can totally afford any or even all Broadway shows! We definitely learned a lesson on ticket purchasing.

Needless to say, the show was absolutely hilarious and sometimes so funny and witty I was uncomfortable. For those of you who have seen The Book of Mormon, you totally understand and for those who haven’t, well now you just feel left out so you obviously need to experience it for yourself!
