I rescued my fur baby, Frankie, from a local shelter at the beginning of the year. It was hands down the best thing I have ever done... I never realized how many innocent animals are killed each day because of the limited space in local shelters. I just wanted to share with you my experience at Strut Your Mutt!
I know that not EVERY penny donated actually gets back to local shelters but I know that most of it does. It was great to see so many dog lovers and meet other rescue dog moms who could relate to some dog struggles I had in the past (seperation anxiety, etc). There was dog costume contest, agility contest, and most importantly the 1,900 steps walk! Every so often volunteers would give dog treats out and cheer on the mutts! They also had water stations setup through the path and bubble machines. It was honestly so much fun for me and my fur baby.
I spoke with different vendors about doggie day camps, food brands, and silly dog toys! Saint Arnold Brewery was also there giving out free beer.. They didn't even card Frankie(kidding).
Anyways, I just wanted to tell you all about it because it was a blast- for me and my fur baby! I encourage everyone to at least participate once to fill the excitement and joy of strutting for your mutt!
“Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event is about saving lives, because every day more than 9,000 dogs and cats are killed in shelters, simply because they don’t have safe places to call home. That’s why Best Friends is partnering with local animal welfare groups, national sponsors and passionate individuals like you to walk for a cause. By working together to raise money for animals, we can Save Them All.”
“This isn’t your average dog walk.”
“Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event is about saving lives. In fact, your dog might agree that this fundraising, pooch-walking, fun-having extravaganza is the best thing since the invention of the chew toy. It’s an annual series of charity walks that brings together four- and two-legged participants of all ages to raise money toward saving the lives of homeless pets in your neighborhood and all around the country.”
“And it’s so much more than a charity walk! Strut Your Mutt is a festival of fun, including smile-inducing activities like doggie yoga, pet portraits, refreshments, music, contests and more. Most of all, this energizing event is about getting our wiggle on with our favorite four-legged friends! “
“Even if you can’t attend the event in one of this year’s 14 participating cities, you can still join the fun online as a virtual Strut Your Mutt participant. No matter where you’re strutting from — your living room, your back porch or your own personal treadmill — you’ll be helping to save lives. “
“Animal welfare organizations and shelters that are partners with Best Friends Animal Society will also be participating, making Strut Your Mutt that much more impactful by building support and collaboration among animal lovers throughout the country. So whether you’ll be attending one of our live events nationwide this fall or joining the virtual walk, when you participate in Strut Your Mutt, you’ll be helping save animal lives.”
“Join us at Strut Your Mutt and help countless furry friends find their forever homes. Together, we can Save Them All.”
